The Sully Buttes Chargers found their rhythm early and often, and downed Sunshine Bible Academy by the final of 50-0 Friday night in Onida. The game ended midway through the third quarter with the mercy rule.
The Crusaders couldn’t generate any offense, and turnovers cost them field position all night long.
The Chargers meanwhile kept their game plan basic, and rolled to 353 yards total offense–238 on the ground–and were able to score at will. Sully Buttes subbed down late in the half, and were able to get backup players quality time on the varsity field.
Quarterback Landon Hepker finished his night with 39 yards rushing, 112 yards through the air, with nine catches on 16 attempts. Hepker had three touchdown throws, and ran in another. Running back Thomas Farries was once again solid with 148 yards on the ground on twelve attempts, and scored the final points on an 18 yard strike from Hepker at 7:08 of the third quarter.
The Chargers now sit at 4-0 on the season, with a road contest Friday at Colome against the Cowboys, a 34-28 winner over Burke Friday night. Sunshine Bible Academy falls to 0-3 on the season, and has a home contest Friday against Great Plains Lutheran.
