Pierre Soccer Splits Matches in Harrisburg

The Pierre Governor boys would win a close 2-1 match as the girls would drop a 6-1 contest on the road to the Harrisburg Tigers on Thursday.

The Pierre girls were unable to get the offense going as the now 6-0-1 Tigers were able to score four first half goals with help with the wind in its favor as Hallee Christensen would score two goals to add to her now 17 goals on the season of the Tigers 38. Christensen also had two assists in the win for Harrisburg. Ryann Barry would score Pierre’s lone goal which made it 4-1 at the time. The Governor girls will drop to 5-3 and its three game winning streak came to and end.

In the boys contest, the Governors and Tigers played to a scoreless first half tie but it was Ashton Griese to get the first goal of the game with 24 minutes remaining in the second half on a crisp pass from Rylan Derry. Then it was Devon Flottmeyer stepping up from his defensive position to receive another pass from Derry to give the Govs a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes remaining. Harrisburg scored late on a PK to pull within 2-1 but Carson Ahartz made five saves and the Govs picked up its fifth win of the season.

Pierre will host Brandon Valley on Saturday. The girls will play first at 12:00 with the boys to follow at 2:00.
