Lower Brule Man Sentenced To Over Three Years In Prison For Assaulting Tribal Police Officer

LOWER BRULE — A Lower Brule man has been sentenced in federal court for assaulting a Tribal police officer. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 42 year-old Jade LaRoche was sentenced Tuesday to three years and eight months in federal prison. He will be required to serve three years of probation. Evidence presented during a two-day trial showed jurors that on Holloween last year, LaRoche resisted the efforts of a Tribal police officer called to remove LaRoche from a residence in Lower Brule. When LaRoche learned police were there to arrest him, he ran from officers into a back bedroom in the home. As the officer approached, LaRoche charged out, hitting the officer and knocking him into a table. The officer suffered injuries in the fall to his neck back and shoulder. Following the verdict, LaRoche was taken into custody by the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin serving his sentence.
