Sioux Falls Man Sentenced To Five Years In Prison For Fort Pierre Burglary

FORT PIERRE — A Sioux Falls man is sentenced to five years in prison on burglary charges and being a habitual offender. Stanley County States Attorney Tom Maher says 24 year-old Richard James Woodraska was given a nine-year sentence but four of those years were suspended by Judge Margo Northup. Maher says Woodraska was sentenced for Third Degree Burglary, Grand Theft and the Habitual Offender information for having two prior felonies. Woodraska was charged for an incident on May 20th where shortly after getting a job at a store in Fort Pierre, he stole from that store and a nearby apartment. Woodraska entered the store at night and stole cash, coins, a firearm and personal property. He had been on parole because of an aggravated assault conviction in Minnehaha County. Woodraska was ordered to repay over 43-hundred dollars in restitution and was given 89 days credit for time served. He will be parole eligible after serving 40-percent of his sentence.
