Governors Shake Off Slow Start for Sweep of Mitchell

The Pierre Governors may not have played their A game on Tuesday, but they came away with another sweep to remain unbeaten at 6-0 as they beat the Mitchell Kernels 25-22, 25-19 and 25-15.

The Governors played from behind most of the first set, but were able to find its groove to take the first set from the Kernels and start to create the separation in each of the other two sets. Ayvrie Kaiser was dominant once again as she collected at least five kills in each set on her way to 19 on the night, her sixth straight match with double digit kills. Campbell Boddicker had six for the Governors who had six different players record a kill in the first set. Remi Price, Lainey Reinke and Kaiser each had an ace in the match for Pierre who have now won 14 consecutive sets.

The 6-0 Governors will travel out west on Friday and Saturday to take on the Sturgis Scoopers and Spearfish Spartans. Friday’s contest will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with coverage beginning at 7:30 Central Time and first serve at 8:00.
