The Pierre Governor tennis team would split is triangular in Mitchell on Friday before sweeping Madison 9-0 on Saturday to go 2-1 over the weekend.
Pierre picked up a narrow 5-4 win over Mitchell to begin the day on Friday as Sydney Tedrow and Kara Weiss each went 2-0 winning their own singles match and then combined for a doubles win. Ella Fisk in singles flight four and Kourtney Walti in singles flight five each picked up a win to secure the team victory.
Pierre would drop its dual to Yankton in the second matchup of the day, 6-3. Marlee Shorter and Walti would each win their singles contests and then pick up a doubles flight two victory.
Then on Saturday every Governor picked up a win in the 9-0 sweep of the Madison Bulldogs. Caitlin Ott returned after missing Friday’s action to win in singles flight six and Bailey Jessen, who had filled in for Ott on Friday, played in doubles flight three with Fisk and claimed their first doubles victory of the weekend.
Pierre is now 9-3 in duals this season and will be at home for triangular on Tuesday to face both Rapid City Central and Aberdeen Roncalli. The triangular begins at 10:00 AM at Griffin Park on Tuesday.
