After starting strong, the Sully Buttes Charger football team let up on the gas, allowing the Langford Area Lions an opportunity to get back into the game–but it was all for naught, as Sully Buttes regained control, and pulled away by the score of 52-16 Friday night in Langford.
The Chargers scored on their first four possessions in the game–a Thomas Farries one yard run, a Farries 61 yard run, a Landon Hepker to Trever Marshall five yard pass, and a Hepker to Gavin Barber 50 yard strike put Sully Buttes up 30-0.
An errant pass by the Chargers was intercepted and run back for a score, to make it 30-8 at the halftime break.
The Chargers came back out and re-established their ground dominance, with a couple more of Thomas Farries scoring runs of eleven and 20 yards, to enact the continuous clock.
Sully Buttes racked up 458 total yards of offense, with 317 yards on the ground. Langford Area ended the night with 160 total yards offensively.
With the win, Sully Buttes is now at 3-0 on the season, with a home game Friday night in Onida against Sunshine Bible Academy, while the 0-3 Lions are on the road to face Faulkton Area.
