Governors All Over Brookings in Shutout Win

The Pierre Governor defense stood tall forcing three turnovers and the offense ran over the defense as the Governors defeated the Brookings Bobcats 48-0 Friday night at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

Lincoln Kienholz would throw for over 270 yards on the night and three touchdown passes as Jack Merkwan, Jett Zabel and Cade Kaiser each caught a TD pass and Kienholz would run in another three scores as Pierre opened up a 34-0 lead at halftime. Brock Moser had the other touchdown on a seven yard run, his first of the year. Gavin Stotts and Spencer Easland each had an interception on the first two drives of the game and Elijah Boutchee picked up a fumble as the defense forced the three turnovers but allowed just 68 yards over the entire night. Pierre started all but one drive in plus territory in the first half.

The Governors, now at 2-0 will face Mitchell next Saturday at home. Kickoff from Hollister Field is at 7:00 with coverage beginning at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
