It would be a solid bounce back performance by the Pierre Governor golfers as they would take home second place at the Hub City Invite on Tuesday, just seven shots behind Watertown for the team win.
Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein each would shoot a three over par, 74 and tie for second place as Watertown’s Kaden Rylance would finish the day at even par, 71 for the individual day win. Of the four Governors whose scores were accounted for, all four had at least a birdie on the day. Luke Olson, who was a shot outside the top then at +8, 79, had four birdies including back-to-back holes of one and two. Sonnenschein finished with two birdies on holes two and three and Lincoln Houska and Bothun each had a birdie. Houska finished in eighth place with a 78 and both Charlie Simpson and Jack Bartlett finished with a 87 and 92 respectively. The Watertown Arrows would shoot a 298, +14 for the team win while the Governors were second at 305 and 24 shots better than Aberdeen Central for second place.
The Governors will now have over a week off before traveling to Yankton on Friday, September 9 playing at Fox Run Golf Course.
