Pierre Tennis has Successful Weekend as Tedrow, Weiss Win Doubles Tournament

It was a long three days for the Pierre Governors in Rapid City over the weekend. From Thursday through Saturday the Governors spent about 25 hours on the court and Pierre came away with a third place finish over the tournaments.

Sydney Tedrow and Kara Weiss would take care of business in the flight one doubles tournament taking home first place, the best finish for any of the Governors. Weiss also had a second place finish in singles flight two, which was the best singles finish of the weekend. Jocelyn Corrales placed third in singles flight four and along with Caitlin Ott placed third in doubles flight three. Tedrow in flight one, Kourtney Walti in flight five and Ott in flight six all had a fourth place finish. Walti and Marlee Shorter in doubles flight two also placed fourth. Ella Fisk took the place of Shorter in singles flight three as Shorter was unable to compete with a sickness and Fisk would finish seventh in her first varsity start.

Pierre finished with a total of 176.5 points, third on the weekend behind just Rapid City Stevens and Brandon Valley. The Governors were the best Class A school on the weekend.

The Govs will travel to Mitchell on Friday for a dual before finishing its trip to Madison on Saturday for its second dual of the weekend. Pierre is scheduled to be back home for a triangular next week Tuesday, September 6.
