Pierre Football Begins Season with Unknown Aberdeen Central

There’s always unknowns heading into a new football season, but for the Pierre Governors, the first opponent has a little bit more unknown as Justin Briese, a Pierre alum, takes over the program.

Even with the coaching change, the Governors are still secure in what they will be doing as the offense returns virtually everyone while the defense will again be tough to score against this season. Lincoln Kienholz will begin his third year as the starting quarterback and the Washington commit has the very likelihood of breaking the career passing yards in South Dakota history. The Governors are also looking for its sixth straight state championship. Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says with the new coach, while still being on the coaching staff last year you can start to plan that most things will stay the same…

The Governors have just one man starting on both sides of the ball, Jason Maciejczak, and Steele says it will be a lot of fun to see not many guys start both ways…

Steele says the Governors need to get ahead early…

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 on Saturday night at Hollister Field. Coverage will start at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
