Charger Netters Fall in Three Sets to Veteran Jones County

In the opening match of the season the Sully Buttes Chargers committed too many unforced errors, and the Jones County Coyotes made them pay with a 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 three set sweep Tuesday night in Onida.

The Chargers kept it close all night long–especially in the third set–but Jones County showed why they finished so strong last season, with an all senior lineup, and kill shots by 6’0″ Mallory Valburg, who finished with 12, and 5’9″ Jadyn Jensen who tallied eight, with Peyton Rankin doing a stellar job all night long in the setter position.

The Chargers came in down a starter, due to health reasons, and still kept it close. Junior Stevie Wittler stepped into the setter position for the Chargers, and tried to set up their impressive middle and outside hitters in Lydia Hill, and Saige Heath, but unforced errors, errant shots, and ineffective passing did in the 0-1 Chargers. Jones County starts the season at 1-0.

The Chargers will travel to Roscoe Saturday for the YTC Tournament, starting at 10AM, and get back to dual action August 30th at Faulkton. The Coyotes will take on Bison Saturday at the Harold Thune Auditorium in Murdo.
