Driver Leads Law Enforcement On High Speed Pursuit Through Lyman, Stanley Counties Friday Night

STANLEY COUNTY — The driver of a possible stolen vehicle led law enforcement from multiple agencies on a high speed chase Friday evening along U-S Highway 83 between Fort Pierre and Vivian. Lyman County Sheriff Steve Manger says a deputy received a report of a possible stolen vehicle that may have been entering Lyman County around 5:20 PM. The deputy managed to find the vehicle at a business in Vivian and tried to pull the vehicle over. That’s when the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed north on U-S Highway 83. Deputies chased the vehicle into Stanley County where the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies joined in. The vehicle ran out of gas just south of Fort Pierre near mile marker 114. The driver then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot where he was eventually taken into custody. The driver’s name is not being released due to the age of the driver. Other agencies on scene included the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Game, Fish and Parks, Pierre Police and Hughes County Sheriff.
