Pierre Soccer Travels to Sioux Falls to Face Roosevelt in First Road Matchup

The Pierre soccer teams will head to Sioux Falls to the take on the Roosevelt for its first road matchup of the season in its only contests of the week.

The Pierre girls will be facing the defending state champions who eliminated them in the first round of last year’s state tournament. The Governors did beat Roosevelt 1-0 in the regular season last year, but were shutout 1-0 at home in the playoffs. Roosevelt went on to win all three games on the road to reach the state championship before taking home the 2021 crown. Both Jasmine Jost and Ryann Barry each scored three goals to lead the Governors to its 2-0 record over the past weekend. Roosevelt played to a scoreless tie against Jefferson in its first match of the season.

The Pierre boys split its two games last weekend and at 1-1 will look to get back to its offensive output on Friday. Pierre scored seven goals in its win over Douglas but were shutout against Spearfish on Saturday. Rylan Derry and Cesar Rameriz each have a hat trick so far on the season. Roosevelt has dropped its only game of the season so far, 7-1 to the Jefferson Cavaliers.

The girls will play first at 4:00 with the boys to follow around 6:00. Both matchups will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with coverage starting at 3:40 with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
