Pierre Woman Sentenced On Federal Drug Distribution Charges

PIERRE — A Pierre woman will be joining her husband in federal prison on drug distribution charges. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 32 year-old Taylor Klein was given a 10 year federal prison term Monday for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Klein will serve five years of probation after release and must pay a one-thousand dollar fine. Taylor Klein was indicted by a federal grand jury in September of last year and entered a guilty plea this April. Klein and her husband John were a part of a methamphetamine conspiracy to distribute the drug throughout central South Dakota. Federal investigators say the Kleins and others involved distributed over 500 grams of meth during the operation. John Klein was sentenced for his role in the conspiracy to 20 years in federal prison. Following sentencing, Taylor Klein was turned over to the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving her sentence.
