Department Of Transportation To Replace Culverts On State Highway 273 North Of Kennebec In September

KENNEBEC — A state highway north of Kennebec in Lyman County will see construction in two areas in September. Highway 273 will have a box culvert replaced at mile marker 66, three miles north of Kennebec between September 8th to the 19th. The second box culvert will be replaced from September 20th to the 29th at mile marker 69, three miles north of the first project. Highway 273 will be closed at those sites during construction. Travelers should use alternate routes around the construction. The project will repair two reinforced box culverts. The culverts had temporary repairs previously to ensure safe travel. Permanent repairs will require digging up and around the culverts so joints in the culverts can be exposed and repaired. The 344-thousand dollar project was awarded by the South Dakota Transportation Commission to B-X Civil and Construction of Dell Rapids.
