Pierre School District To Focus On Areas Of Safety As New School Year Nears

PIERRE — With the school year starting next week in Pierre the Pierre School Board got a safety update from District Safety Coordinator Todd Johnson Monday night. Johnson says he and the District’s School Resource Officers attended training put on by the National Association of School Resource Officers…

Johnson says they will also take a closer look at threat assessments in and around the District…

Another area of focus for Johnson will be reunification plans in the event the worst happens here…

Johnson says the District is also getting a radar speed detector to alert drivers to their speed in school zones. Industrial tech students will be welding a trailer together to build a speed trailer to make the unit mobile. The speed indicator for the time being will be placed on Broadway Avenue in front of Riggs High School.
