16U Walk Off In Second Win of State Tournament

Pierre Post 8 16U had to come from behind to defeat Harrisburg Gold and did so on a walkoff hit from Carson Stoeser in a 8-7 win in 10 innings.

Pierre jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to RBIs from Ridge Leimbach and Charlie Simpson but Harrisburg would eventually respond with six runs over the next three innings to take a 6-3 lead. Pierre tied the game up in the sixth with another RBI from JJ Bucholz to force the game to extra innings. Harrisburg would take the lead in the top of the ninth before Simpson brought home the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and then Stoeser singled home the winning run in the tenth as the Eights walk off winners for the a now 2-0 record in the state tournament.

Leimbach went three and 2/3 innings allowing five runs on four hits while Bucholz came in in relief in the final five and 1/3 allowing just one unearned run on two hits with eight strikeouts.

Pierre will play Sioux Falls East on Saturday at 2:30 to close pool play with the semifinals and championship on Sunday.
