Ribbon Cutting Held For Pierre Skate Park

PIERRE — Officials with the City of Pierre and Pierre Area Chamber held a ribbon-cutting Thursday night to officially welcome a new skate park in Griffin Park. Mayor Steve Harding says the old skate park was in need of replacement and needed to find a new home due to construction of a new municipal water park…

The ribbon cutting included a brief demonstration of what that park can do…

The skate park sits on a five-thousand square foot concrete pad just east of Capitol Creek. It contains varies obstacles for skate boards, scooters and skates to navigate including half pipes, quarter pipes, bank ramps, a grind ledge, jump boxes and more. The park originally was set to be constructed in 2023 but public input prompted city officials to expedite replacement of the park sooner. The estimated cost of the park was just over 101-thousand dollars.
