Colter Babcock went six complete innings and Max Hunsley picked up the save in the 5-2 win over Brookings as Pierre Post 8 16U begins the state tournament in Watertown at 1-0.
Babcock also would get the job done at the plate as he went 3-4 with three RBIs. JJ Bucholz doubled home a run as Pierre led 5-0 before Brookings ever got on the board. Luke Miller drove in the games first run as he also went 3-4 at the plate. Babcock allowed just two hits and worked around 10 walks to pick up the win.
Pierre will face Harrisburg Gold at 6:00 on Friday in Watertown as they look for a 2-0 start in the state tournament.
