Never Say Die Eights Win in Extra Innings to Keep Season Alive

For the second time in two days Pierre Post 8 had to go to extra innings, this time though, they would win 7-6 over Brandon Valley to extend its season into Friday.

Pierre went down 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth before Matt Hanson tied the game up with an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning. Austin Reiter would hit a three run homer in the bottom of the fifth put the Lynx up 5-2. The Eights wouldn’t go away. In the top of the sixth, Lincoln Kienholz drove in two runs on a single to pull Pierre within 5-4 and the senior Hanson drove in another two runs with an RBI single to give Pierre its first lead 6-5. The Eights held it until the seventh inning when Reiter scored his fourth run of the game to tie it up at 6-6. Isaac Polak would get out of a bases loaded one out jam to keep the game tied heading into extra innings. Jayden Wiebe delivered the biggest hit of the day driving in Grayson Hunsley to give Pierre the lead against 7-6 on a double. Aaron Booth would come in to the game for just his second appearance of the season with a runner on second and nobody out and deliver three straight strikeouts to end the ballgame and keep Pierre’s season alive to Friday. Brian White, manager of Post 8 was near speechless after the game with how both the first games went for Pierre…

White says he has to give a lot of credit to his super seniors…
