This weekend, Hyde Stadium and Kelly Field will be busy as the Pierre 14U Post 8 team will be hosting the Class A state tournament.
Pierre comes into the tournament with a record at 9-20 but picked up a big split with Sioux Falls West this past Thursday to close out the season. While the record isn’t quite where Pierre would want it, they are 4-6 in games in Pierre this summer and they’ll continue to have the home field advantage this weekend playing all games at historic Hyde Stadium. Sollers is in his first year with the Post 8 program. He and his family moved from Arizona to Pierre three years ago and has jumped into the Post 8 program coaching the 14U squad. Sollers says he likes what he’s seen out of the team to close the regular season and head into the state tournament…

Pierre faces Sioux Falls East at 7:30 Thursday in its first game. Pierre faces Yankton at 6:00 on Friday and will close out pool play Saturday at 6:00 against Mitchell, all at Hyde. The semifinals will be played on Sunday at 10:30 AM and 1:00 with the championship at 3:30. You can see a full schedule below.
