A nine run inning beginning and ending with a home run, propelled Pierre Post 8 to a 9-5 win over Renner to sweep the Royals and qualify for its 10th straight, state tournament.
Bennett Dean started the nine run inning with a lead off home run to make it a 3-1 game. Brecken Krueger made it 3-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly and Jayden Wiebe tied the game at 3-3 with a bases loaded walk. Matt Hanson lined a shot back off the glove of the pitcher, Trey Heckenliable and gave Pierre the lead 4-3. Then Dean in his second at bat drove the ball down the right field line clearing the bases and picking up four RBIs in the inning. Then it was Gary Nedved’s turn. He blasted a no doubt two run home to make it a 9-3 lead. It was all Jackson Edman needed as he went six innings allowing just three runs on four hits, he had seven strikeouts including four in a row in the middle of the game.
