Dean, Kienholz Propel Post 8 to Split with Brandon Valley

Lincoln Kienholz hit two home runs, one in each game and Bennett Dean had a complete game shutout as Post 8 was able to come away with a split against Brandon Valley on Saturday, dropping the first game 8-7 while winning game two 3-0.

Post 8 claimed a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the second after Kienholz hit a two run homer, chasing the Brandon Valley starter early. However, Aiden Zerr finished strong for the Lynx allowing just one run in the final six innings as Post 131 put a five spot up in the sixth to take the lead. George Stalley had three RBI and a triple for Pierre, but couldn’t put the clamp down in the first game.

In game two, Dean had another stellar start and his third complete game of the year, this time picking up a win, especially when the Eights needed it the most. Dean allowed just five hits in the game striking out out four and just had two walks against. Dean kept the Eights in the ballgame while the offense sputtered through the first five innings. Then it was Kienholz who hit his second homer of the day putting up the first run and Jett Zabel singling home a second run with a third scoring on an error to finish out the ballgame. It was a win which keeps Pierre alive to potentially host the first round next weekend. Brian White, manager of Post 8 says they let the first game slip…
