Story from Mendel Miller
The South Dakota Dynamo played Florida Kraze Krush Friday morning in game 2 of pool play at the US Club National Championships. Despite controlling play for most of the game Dynamo was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Dynamo started strong again and had several scoring chances in the first 20 minutes before the mandatory water break, however the game remained scoreless. Just 10 seconds after play restarted midfielder Maddie Donavan (Spearfish) gathered a loose ball outside the Kraze box and found the net with a left foot blast.
Despite Kraze increasing the pressure Dynamo took the 1-0 lead into halftime. Eight minutes into the second half Kraze scored in similar fashion as they pounced on a loose ball and went top shelf from 30 yards away to tie the score.
Dynamo fought back and had several good scoring chances but couldn’t find the back of the net before time expired. Kraze managed only 4 shots against the stiff Dynamo defense but did just enough to gain the point awarded to each team for a tie.
Saturday Dynamo is back at it as they play the Aztec Impact (Massachusetts) at 9:30 AM in a huge game. A win will clinch a spot in the semifinals for the returning National Champion Dynamo. Aztec has won both games so far in pool play by 2-1 scores.
