South Dakota Dynamo U16 girls soccer team kicked off defense of last years US Club National Championship Thursday in Denver. Dynamo overwhelmed the Eastern FC Lightning (New York) 12-0, finding the back of the goal early and often.

Just three minutes into the game Pierre’s Ryann Barry drove the right side of the goal and centered the ball past the keeper for Deshani Peters (Aberdeen) to tap in. Eleven minutes later Maddie Donovan (Spearfish) put a beautiful 35 yard free kick over the keeper to make it 2-0 Dynamo. With 18 minutes remaining before halftime Addyson Massey (Bismarck ND) made it 3-0 with Pierre’s Grace Richter on the assist. That started a tidal wave that Eastern would never stop.

Dynamo poured it on and led 7-0 at halftime. The second half was more of the same despite Dynamo backing off the gas. Scoring goals for Dynamo was Peters (2), Donavan, Massey (2), Emerson Perrin of Minot, Kaylin Poppen of Aberdeen, Cana Carlson of Gillette WY (2), Barry, Richter, and Gracelyn Taylor of Pierre.

Assists were recorded by Barry (3), Massey (4), Richter,  Carlson, Perrin, and Minot, ND’s Maicee Burke.

The all Pierre defensive line of Taylor, Ireland Templeton, and Bria Sargent allowed only one shot on the day. Dynamo faces a tough Florida Kraze team on Friday morning at 9:30 central.
