The Pierre Trappers had its go-ahead single in the top of the eighth by Hunter Brown to take a 3-2 lead and they were able to hold on with runners at second and third in the bottom of the ninth to force a game four on Sunday.
It’s the first loss for the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs since June 1 and snapping a 27 game winning streak. It’s only the second time all season the Sabre Dogs have fallen into the loss column. Pierre took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a Trevor Seagraves single and Tyler Traphagen scoring on a passed ball. The Sabre Dogs picked up a run in the third and fourth innings, both unearned against Kaleb Hay who went eight innings allowing just six hits, four walks and a strikeout. Brady Glen earned the save allowing a hit and walk in the eighth inning.
The Trappers and Sabre Dogs will battle in game four of the best-of-five series on Sunday. First pitch from Hyde Stadium is at 5:35.
