Trappers in 0-2 Hole with Loss on Friday

The Pierre Trappers will now have to fight out of a 0-2 hole in the Expedition League Championship Series after dropping game two, 6-3 Friday night at Hyde Stadium.

The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs used a five run fourth inning to claim its lead and hold on for good scoring two unearned runs in the inning with a two out error. Jake Barlow drove in the games’ first run with an RBI double before Bardley Harmon singled home the second run and Erick Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 game. The Trappers would answer in the bottom of the fifth on a two out, two RBI triple by Noah McCreary to make it a 5-2 ballgame. Cy Probst singled home the third run of the game in the bottom of the sixth to cut it back to a three run ballgame, but it was all the Trappers could get as the Sabre Dogs are now one win from an Expedition League Championship.

Casey Kostrzewa picked up the loss on the mound giving up six runs, four earned on six hits, four walks and a strikeout. Pierre’s own Jack Van Camp went a scoreless inning in relief walking two and striking out one in what could be his last appearance for the Trappers and playing at Hyde Stadium.

The Trappers will look to keep the series alive on Saturday in a must win game. First pitch from Hyde Stadium with the Expedition League Championship now on the line, will be at 6:35.
