Sabre Dogs Take Game One of Championship Series

The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs scored five runs in the first two innings and held on to beat the Pierre Trappers 6-2 in game one of the Expedition League Championship Series on Thursday at Hyde Stadium.

Luis Pelayo hit two home runs for the Sabre Dogs in the second and seventh innings as he drove in three runs to help provide the necessary offense for Souris Valley to take the early series lead. Louis Manning went the distance on the mound for the Trappers giving up six runs on nine hits, two walks and four strikeouts on 151 pitches. Hunter Brown and Jacob Griffin each drove in a run for the Trappers who will be looking to even the series on Friday. Game two is scheduled for first pitch at 6:35 tonight with game three also at 6:35 on Friday and as long as Pierre wins one of the next two games, Sunday’s game would start at 5:35.
