Trappers Win in Extra Inning Home Run Derby

Trappers Win in Extra Inning Home Run Derby

The Pierre Trappers have now three games in a row and they used an extra little bit of flair to get the job done. Pierre would win 10-9 with the home run derby.

In the Expedition League this season when a game hits extra innings it goes straight to a home run derby and for Jacob Griffin and the Trappers, they were able to get the win on Griffin’s last swing of the night to send the fans home happy.

There was little separation between the teams as it was Pierre leading 4-3 after three innings and North Iowa thought they gained control with a four run seventh inning, but Pierre answered right back with a four run inning to tie the game at 8-8. Hunter Brown singled in the bottom of the eighth for the Trappers to give Pierre a 9-8 lead before the Ragin’ Roosters answered in the ninth to help send the game into the home run derby. Pierre’s Jack Van Camp had a no-decision on the mound going six innings allowing three hits, four runs, five walks and eight strikeouts

Pierre is now at 10-20 and will wrap up its series with the Ragin’ Roosters on Wednesday before heading back out on the road. First pitch from Hyde Stadium is at 7:05.
