17U KKVC Team Takes Second Place in National Tournament

The Kusler Klinic Volleyball Club teams had an outstanding performance over four days at the AAU National Tournament with both the 16U and 17U teams reaching the gold bracket single elimination tournament. The 16U team would lose in the quarterfinal as the 17U team fell in the National Championship match.

Both teams did pick up a first round victory on Sunday as the 16U team would defeat Arizona in two sets, 25-19 and 25-18 to advance to the quarterfinals, but the team out of Wisconsin would narrowly defeat KKVC 25-23 and 26-24. The 16U team which had Pierre girls Aleise Christopherson, Lainey Reinke and Reese Terwilliger finished the tournament going 10-2. The 16U team swept every one of its 10 wins.

The 17U team went through both Arizona and Illinois in the first two rounds of the eight team single elimination bracket. They won 25-16, 25-16 over Arizona and 25-16, 25-21 over Illinois. But in the final, Alabama was able to take the title with a 25-16, 25-23 win over KKVC. The 17U team had Remi Price, Ayvrie Kaiser, Lily Sanchez and Makenna Schlekeway from Pierre on this year’s squad. The 17U team went 12-1 dropping just two sets in its 12 victories.
