Mandan Walks Off Pierre after Ninth Inning Comeback

Pierre Post 8 scored three runs in the top of ninth, but it was the Mandan Chiefs with a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Eights 8-7 on Thursday.

The Eights opened up the scoring with three runs in the first inning off four hits including an RBI sacrifice fly from Jonny Lyons and single from Grayson Hunsley. The Eights held onto the to lead adding a run to make it 4-2 in the fifth with an RBI single from George Stalley. A bases clearing double in the bottom of the inning from McCoy Keller gave Mandan its first lead at 6-4 and added a run in the bottom of the eighth. It was Brecken Krueger’s two run double and Stalley’s RBI fielder’s choice in the ninth to tie the game at 7-7 but Brayden Bunnell singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Bunnell also was the winning pitcher in the game.

Pierre used two pitchers from the 15/16 team as Ridge Leimbach threw four innings allowing just two runs on six hits, six walks and six strikeouts. JJ Bucholz came in in relief going another four innings allowing just two earned runs on five hits, one walk and five strike outs.
