Public Hearing To Be Held As Part Of Fort Pierre Application To State Revolving Fund For Water Treatment Plant

FORT PIERRE — The Fort Pierre City Council is meeting next Tuesday because of the Juneteenth holiday. A public hearing has been scheduled for that meeting for the city’s application to the State Revolving Fund for proposed upgrades to Fort Pierre’s water system. Mayor Gloria Hanson says that public hearing was cancelled from last week due to a minor mistake, but the will take more public comment next week too…

The South Dakota Legislature approved 660-million dollars for water infrastructure projects this year, but Hanson says those funds aren’t going very far…

One part of the application process to for the State Revolving Fund is establishing the cost to ratepayers. Hanson says Fort Pierre may look at multiple funding options…

Fort Pierre is already on the State Water Plan for a water storage tank and is looking to amend the plan to add a possible drinking water treatment facility.
