Trappers Drop Two of Three from Ragin’ Roosters

The North Iowa Ragin’ Roosters were able to take the rubber match of the three game set with the Pierre Trappers on Sunday with an 11-8 victory over Pierre.

North Iowa scored five runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to take the 11-8 lead and hold off the Trappers after Pierre beat North Iowa in game two of the series on Saturday 11-9. Kaleb Hay picked up the loss on the mound giving up six runs in four innings of relief on seven hits.

Elsewhere in the Expedition League, the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs remain hot as they finished off a sweep of the Red River Pilots as they won 11-1 on Sunday to improve to 14-1 on the season and have now won 10 in a row.

Pierre will have two consecutive days off before facing the Red River Pilots on Wednesday at Hyde Stadium. Pierre will face Red River on Wednesday with a doubleheader on Thursday before traveling to Sioux Falls next weekend for a midseason, round robin event at the Birdcage.
