Trap Shooting State Championships for Pierre, Stanley County in Aberdeen

This weekend, teams from across the state will gather for the High School Clay Target League State championships in Aberdeen. Shooters from both Pierre and Stanley County will be participating.

The three day event begins on Friday with practice rounds on the trap side before Class 1A will begin shooting Saturday morning with Class 2A participating on Sunday. Stanley County will have one competitor shooting skeet which will take place on Friday at 2:30 for session one. Wyatt Mortensen will be competing for the Buffaloes. Each session has 50 targets and then the second session will follow the same schedule.

Pierre will shoot skeet on Saturday beginning at 10:30 AM with the second session to follow once all shooters are done with session one. Then on Sunday Pierre will compete in the Trap shooting starting at 8:00 AM on Field 9 at the Aberdeen Gun Club. Session 2 will begin immediately after Pierre is done with its first session which will most likely be at noon.

In addition to Pierre competing this weekend, several members of the Trap Shooting team received All-State honors. Lucas Jones, Shawn Van Liere, Griffin Gates, Noah Smith, Andy Page, Isaac Loe, Bryce Becker, Jaxon Jungwirth and Tate Nesladek all made the All-State team for the 2022 spring season.
