Post 8 Finishes Strong, Sweep Two Games

Pierre Post 8 is at .500 for the first time this season as they picked up two wins on Wednesday over Spearfish and Sioux Falls West in Sioux Falls with a 6-3 and 8-3 wins.

Post 8 jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Spearfish with a two out error to score the first run and Bennett Dean driving in the other two runs with an inside the park homerun. George Stalley made it a 4-0 game in the top of second with an RBI single and Lincoln Kienholz drove in the other run as he had three of the 10 hits in game one for Pierre. Isaac Polak grabbed the win on the mound going three and two thirds giving up just one hit, two unearned runs with four walks and striking out eight. Jayden Wiebe threw two and a third innings of relief allowing a run on three hits and a strike out. Kienholz nabbed the save in the bottom of the seventh with the only man to reach base due to an error.

In game two, Sioux Falls West jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings but it was a three run rally in the top of fourth capped off by a two RBI single from Gary Nedved. Jacob Mongar would tie the game up in the bottom of the inning but Jack Merkwan would double home the eventual winning run in the top of the fourth with two outs to give the Eights a 4-3 and Pierre would add runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to finish out an 8-3 win. Kienholz picked up the win on the mound finishing the finally three and two thirds innings allowing just two hits while striking out three. Jackson Edman went the first three and a third giving up three runs, two earned on five hits and a strikeout. Brian White, manager of Post 8 says the Eights played well…

Pierre will be off until next Tuesday when they travel to Watertown for a doubleheader, White says it’s going to be big for them to have several days off of games…
