Pierre Post 8 jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the bottom of the first but would end up falling 15-8 to the Mandan Chiefs on Tuesday with the second game being rained out.
Pierre had RBIs in the first inning from Jack Merkwan, Bennett Dean, Jett Zabel and Matthew Hanson, but the lead was short lived as Isaac Heuttel drove in two runs on a double and Lucas Burgum hit a two run home run to the tie game back up at 5-5. Pierre would reclaim the lead at 6-5 in the fifth with an RBI sacrifice fly from Merkwan, but it was a two run shot by Heuttel in the top of the sixth as the Chiefs took the lead back for good. Mandan poured it on in the top of the seventh scoring eight times to win 15-8 and end Pierre’s modest three game winning streak.
