Enforcement Increasing In Hughes County Sheriff’s Office

PIERRE — Last week, Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Academy to become a fully certified law enforcement officer in the state. Written warnings issued by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office are up 80-percent over last at this time with 337 handed out instead of citations. Callahan says the office has responded to 52 traffic complaints this year…

Field initiated activity is up 60-percent over last year and the office cleared an 18-month backlog on the service of civil papers in the county.
