PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission is set to meet tonight at the Hughes County Courthouse. Commissioners will consider a purchase agreement for a property on East Dakota Avenue that if approved would be the second step in moving a development of the former Pierre City Hall property forward. The Commission will get an update on courthouse maintenance and updates from Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s office. Three planning and zoning items are on the agenda. They include first readings of three rezoning requests. Commissioners will consider personnel items, budgeted cash transfers, a financial overviews and a review of salary schedules. The Commission will also consider an amendment to a worker’s compensation intergovernmental contract with the South Dakota Municipal League along with the claims and hearing reports.
