Eights Dominant in Third Straight Win to Close Veteran’s Classic

Pierre Post 8 finished the weekend with its third win in a row in convincing fashion with a 16-3 drubbing of Sturgis on Sunday. Pierre finishes the tournament at 3-2.

The Eights hung a crooked number up in each of the first four innings on their way to routing Sturgis as Jack Merkwan and Jonny Lyons each had four RBIs in the win while Bennett Dean and Lyons each had three hits for Pierre. Jett Zabel went all five innings allowing just three runs on four hits and three walks. Brian White, manager of Post 8 says he thinks it was a nice weekend for the Eights…

Sunday’s win comes on the heels of two comeback victories on Saturday and White says it’s a big thing…

And to go 3-2 in this tournament, says a lot about this Eights team overall according to White…

The Eights are now 3-4 on the season and will host Mandan in the first home games of the season on Tuesday. Tuesday will also be the “Hometown Hero Night” which Post 8 will be honoring the late Greg Dean and his family. The ceremony will take place in between games one and two at Hyde Stadium. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call with first pitch at 5:00.
