State Election System Secure Heading Into Primary

PIERRE — Tuesday is Primary Election Day in South Dakota. While questions of election integrity have been raised nationally, it has not been much of an issue in South Dakota. The state’s chief election officer is Secretary of State Steve Barnett…

Barnett says two years ago, a record-high number of South Dakotans were casting absentee ballots because of COVID-19. But not this year…

Barnett says those poll workers are the unsung heroes of any election…

Statewide races on Tuesday’s ballot include Republican primaries for governor, U.S. House and U.S. Senate. Locally votes will be voting for a school board race in Pierre; county commission races in Hughes and Stanley Counties and Sheriff in Stanley along with for District 24 in the state legislature.
