Pierre Man Charged After SUV Ends Up In Mickelson Pond

PIERRE — A Pierre man is facing charges after a sports utility vehicle ended up in Mickelson Pond Monday morning. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers were called to the Mickelson Pond off Fourth Street around eight am Monday. A vehicle driving by 21 year-old Gabriel MedicineEagle the Third left the parking area at the pond at a high rate of speed. Walz says the investigation indicates MedicineEagle was unable to maintain control of the S-U-V as it drove through a ditch, over an adjacent bike path where it entered the pond. The front of the vehicle ended up submerged in the pond. MedicineEagle and a passenger were not injured in the crash. MedicineEagle is facing a charge of Driving on a Revoked License.
