The proposed hotel is likely to be a Marriot or Hilton as Hegg Companies are a franchise for both brands. The city must first buy a parcel of Hughes County land just east of the old city hall building and vacate the 300 block of Chapelle Street. Commissioners approved a purchase agreement for the land which will now go before the Hughes County Commission for further consideration. The city is offering to buy the parcel for 175-thousand dollars. Construction could begin on the development with earthwork by this fall.
