Saturday evening the four state semifinal teams will be known and the Pierre Governors, on the road, will be looking to be one of the four teams. The Govs will play Yankton in the first round of the playoffs in the 8-9 matchup.
Pierre and Yankton did not meet this season and played just once last spring with the Govs picking up the win. Most of the athletes on both teams were a part of the legion teams in which Post 8 swept Yankton to reach the state tournament in 2021. The Govs and Bucks come in both two games over .500 and look to face the top team in the state, the Roosevelt Roughriders.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 at Ronken Field in Karras Park at the home of Augustana. Coverage will begin at 4:40 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call. The Govs will play Roosevelt with a win in the second game to follow which will also be available on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR sports.
