WINNER — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed in a one-vehicle crash near Winner on May 17th. The preliminary investigation by the Patrol shows 20 year-old Fredrick Whiting Jr. of Winner was traveling north on 314th Avenue around 1:20 a.m. when the crash happened Whiting was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup when he lost control near the intersection of 314th Avenue and 275th Street and rolled the pickup. Whiting was not using a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Whiting was the only person involved in the crash. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation of the crash.
