Madilyn Brakke led the Pierre Governor golf team to a fourth place finish in Watertown on Tuesday as Pierre shot a 369 with Brakke placing 11th on the day.
Brakke shot an 88 on the day as teammate Ellie Jo Simpson was a shot behind her at 89. Morgan Lisburg finished at 93 and Haldey Hart and Hattie Baldwin were both at 99 to finish the day.
It was the first time seemingly all season where the leaders were more than an arm’s length ahead of the competition. Aberdeen shot a 323 on the day, eight shots better than Harrisburg but 28 shots ahead of Watertown in third place. Pierre finished 36 shots off the lead for the day. Reese Jansa of Harrisburg won the individual day with a two over par 74, three shots ahead of Bryn Huber of Huron. Brakke, in 11th, was 14 shots behind the winner.
The Governors will travel to Brookings on Thursday before the ESD on Tuesday, May 24. Tee time is at 10:00 AM in Brookings on Thursday.
