Pierre Baseball Faces Mitchell to Close Out Regular Season

The Pierre Governors will play in its final regular season games of 2022 on Tuesday as they host the Mitchell Kernels at Hyde Stadium in a doubleheader.

The Governors are at 12-12 and with a sweep of the Kernels will guarantee an above .500 record for the year, but the Kernels come in inside the top four of the Class A standings at 15-5. The Governors and Kernels were scheduled to play earlier in the year in Mitchell but the game was canceled due to weather. Now, Pierre and Mitchell will meet for the only time in the season and a lot of seed points on the line. Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Steve Gray says the Govs need to play some consistent baseball…

With the game played on Tuesday, if any pitcher goes over 80 on the day, he will be unavailable to throw on Saturday. Gray says this is why they have the depth they do…

Gray says it’s elementary but they need to put the ball in play and throw strikes tonight…

First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 6:30 tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:10 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
