Pierre Baseball Host Jefferson in Doubleheader Looking to Avenge Early Season Loss

The Pierre Governors are down to its last four games of the season as they host the Jefferson Cavaliers in a doubleheader on Friday at Hyde Stadium.

The Governors are still .500 at 11-11 after a split with the Brookings Bobcats. The Govs did not move in the standings after Tuesday’s contests and still scheduled to face the Washington Warriors if the season ended today. Pierre dropped a 3-2 contest to Jefferson back on April 9. After the win for the Cavaliers, they lost 13 straight South Dakota games before ending the streak last week with a win over Washington. Now, the Cavs are 5-15 in the South Dakota season and are flirting with the .250 win percentage which could lower the seed points. Pierre Governor assistant coach Ryan Krueger says they’re not concerned with Jefferson’s record, but all about themselves working on being better…

Krueger says there wasn’t much takeaway from the Brookings game even though it was a split…

As the season is in its final four games for the Governors, Krueger says they need these four wins…

And Krueger says it starts with getting two wins tonight and getting some payback from the loss in April…

First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 as coverage beings at 4:40 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
