The Pierre Governor Baseball team was swept on Saturday against the Roosevelt Roughriders by scores of 12-2 and 9-2 as they finish he week at 5-4 but remain at .500 at 10-10.
The Governor offense was stymied for both games as they combined for just eight hits in total. Cade Kaiser had the Governors lone RBI in the game one loss as he, Grayson Hunsley and Jayden Wiebe each had a hit. Brady Getz went four and two thirds innings allowing three runs on two hits, five walks and eight strike outs. But it was a seven run sixth inning for the Roughriders which put them up 10-1 doomed the Govs.
In game two, Roosevelt scored seven times again, this time in the fourth inning in their 9-2 victory. Lincoln Kienholz had two hits and one of two RBIs for the Governors as Jonny Lyons drove in the Govs other run. Spencer Kelly went three innings, his longest outing, giving up five runs on six hits, one walk and one strikeout. Roosevelt improves to 18-1 on the season and have now won five straight.
The Governors will host the Brookings Bobcats at home on Tuesday. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 4:00 with the second game to follow. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
