The Pierre Governors had a doubleheader sweep of the O’Gorman Knights on Friday with a 4-0 win in game one and a 13-4 win in game two.
Jett Zabel was magnificent in game one on the mound throwing a complete game shutout striking out 11 men on just one walk and seven hits. Zabel had seven of his 11 strikeouts looking finishing the day with 104 pitches, one prior to the maximum. Lincoln Kienholz had an RBI double while Brecken Krueger added an RBI as O’Gorman’s Loegen Linder allowed four runs, two earned in all six innings of work.
Cade Kaiser had three of the four stages of the cycle as he doubled, singled and tripled bringing home five runs in the second game as the Governors used a five spot in the second inning and a six spot in the sixth to cruise past the Knights in game two. Gary Nedved went three and two thirds innings allowing just three runs on three hits with six walks and five strikeouts. Kaiser went the next inning and a third allowing a run on a hit and two strikeouts. Jayden Wiebe finished off the game with two innings of work allowing just one hit and two strikeouts.
The Governors are now 10-8 on the season and have one three in a row. Pierre will host the Roosevelt Roughriders on Saturday with first pitch at noon on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
